Founded by Frank Forouzandeh, a self-made entrepreneur who arrived in Australia with nothing but ambition and a drive to build a different future, Lapis is the result of years of hard work, big risks, and an unwavering commitment to doing things better. Before Lapis, Frank founded By Modern, a company that started as a modest painting business in 2013 and has since grown into a $40 million network of 16 specialised construction entities across Australia and New Zealand.

That journey laid the foundation for Lapis: a company created to take project delivery to the next level. At Lapis, every project is more than just a build. It’s a collaboration between trades, consultants, and clients—streamlined through integrated systems and driven by a relentless focus on quality, timelines, and cost certainty. What began as a small painting business evolved into what’s now By Modern, a group of specialised companies operating across Australia, New Zealand and UAE. Lapiz Construction grew from that same mindset. Frank saw a need for a company that could bring clarity, coordination, and quality to every stage of a build. Under his leadership, Lapiz was founded to offer integrated building and fit-out services—where the process is as solid as the end result. He’s not a typical executive; Frank stays close to the work and the people doing it. His leadership is built on collaboration, clear thinking, and a hands-on approach to delivery. At Lapiz, he’s shaped a culture where good ideas move quickly, and where projects are delivered not just on paper, but with real impact.

Savvas Kartambis

Savvas isn’t one to seek the spotlight, but anyone who’s worked alongside him knows he’s the person you want around when things get complicated. With over 15 years in the industry, he’s learned that the best results come from staying grounded, listening to your team, and keeping things straightforward. He holds a degree in Construction Management and is a licensed builder, but what really sets Sav apart is how he leads—with calm, respect, and a practical mindset. He’s not someone who stays behind a desk; he’s hands-on, always present on site, quietly making sure things get done right. To some, he’s the bridge between design and delivery. To others, he’s the steady hand that keeps things moving. But to all of us at Lapiz, Savvas is a key part of how we build—not just projects, but trust.
